Still have symptoms following detox?

You'll want to read this

Here is why symptoms persist following detoxification: mycotoxins, heavy metals, COVID etc

Because after you have removed the toxin/trigger: any damage that had been done to the body especially at a cellular level will still produce symptoms

So what needs to be done? Understand where along the damage may have occurred, and repair

This has actually been demonstrated in Robert Naviaux’s work: The Cell Danger Response model. And this is what we are going to cover today because it is a big piece of the puzzle to why patient’s do not feel better after removing the toxic load.

Taken from Dr. Naviaux’s CDR Model

The cell shifts into a protective response via a variety of different mechanisms which ends up resulting in the below:

  1. More cortisol is made

  2. Glutathione becomes consumed (our body’s master antioxidant)

  3. The gut microbiome becomes “leaky”

  4. Vitamin D metabolism shifts to end up decreasing the amount of active Vitamin D, directly increasing inflammation

  5. More histamine is created

  6. Porphyrin synthesis is interfered with, which can lead to symptoms of generalized abdominal pain, nausea & symptoms in sunlight

  7. When this shift in metabolism occurs, toxicity accumulates in the body because it is unable to be excreted

This is why chronic illness can be so frustrating: the original trigger may be long gone! During the cell danger response mechanism, cells are sending out chemical messengers to other cells telling them there is a threat.

On Episode 7 of the Holistic Hub Podcast, I had the pleasure of interviewing Dr. Todd Maderis on treating complex chronic illness. We discussed the Cell Danger Response as a big reason for continuing to see symptoms persist after treating the toxic load.

He discusses what they are doing in his clinic to treat the cellular damage and so much more. I would highly recommend giving this episode a listen!
