First, what are EMF’s?

Electric and magnetic fields are invisible areas of energy that are produced by electricity, which is the movement of electrons, or current, through a wire.

An electric field is produced by voltage and a magnetic field results from the flow of current through wires or electrical devices. Electric fields are produced whether or not a device is turned on, whereas magnetic fields are produced only when current is flowing (so when a device is turned on).

Electric and magnetic fields together are referred to as electromagnetic fields, or EMF’s.

Common symptoms of EMF radiation

  1. Headaches

  2. Insomnia

  3. Heart palpitations

  4. Anxiety

  5. Fatigue

  6. Muscle aches

  7. Burning, tingling sensations when touching a device

  8. Dizziness

  9. Irritability

  10. Brain fog

Further more, EMF is actually a HUGE mast cell trigger!

Mast cells are a type of immune cell that line every single part of our body. Their job is to protect us from foreign invaders. They can release hundreds of different chemicals, a well known one being histamine. When these cells are constantly feeling threatened by something in the environment, they’re almost on autopilot, always releasing histamine!

Dr. Theoharides, one of the world’s top mast cell researchers, published a study on mast cell degranulation and EMFs.

The study was on rats, and he was measuring the mast cell release from their brains. He first contained them in a shielded box where they couldn’t get any EMF exposure.

Then he exposed the rats to the amount of EMF radiation that occurs when you make a cell phone call.

The rats had immediate mast cell degranulation!

There are studies that also show EMF’s don’t affect people, why is that?

It’s because they are measuring short term exposure! Like most things, when there is short term anything rarely will you see a rise in symptoms.

The longer you are exposed, the more likely you will have symptoms (sound familiar? i.e. any environmental chemicals/toxins).

Those individuals with a heightened sensitivity to things in their environment tend to be much more sensitive: MCAS, mold illness, histamine intolerance & Lyme disease.

Where do you get exposed to EMF radiation?

  • cell phones

  • Wi-Fi routers

  • laptops & desktops

  • airplanes

  • refrigerators

  • TVs

  • LED

  • breaker boxes

  • high speed blenders

TIPS for reducing exposure:

  1. Make sure your bed is not next to the breaker box or Wi-Fi router

  2. Keep phone 6 feet away from your body, or use a phone shielding case like from Shield Your Body

  3. Keep cell phone on airplane mode and at least 8 feet away from your bed while sleeping, especially when it’s charging

  4. Turn Wi-Fi off at night!!

  5. Use hardwired internet connections, rather than using Wi-Fi

  6. When talking on a cell phone, use speakerphone or headset from Shield Your Body, do not put phone up to your ear!
